Your Daily Tasks

Data Pipeline Development

• Design, develop, and optimize highly scalable and reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines using batch and streaming technologies
• Ensure efficient data ingestion, transformation, and loading into enterprise data platforms

Data Platform Management

• Architect, implement, and maintain robust cloud-based data solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Data Warehousing

• Lead the design and implementation of data warehousing solutions using Google BigQuery and Snowflake
• Optimize data warehouses for performance, cost efficiency, and analytical requirements

Orchestration & Automation

• Develop, manage, and optimize data workflows using Apache Airflow
• Schedule, monitor, and automate complex data pipelines

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer

• Define and implement dimensional data models, including star schemas
• Develop semantic data layers that improve data consistency, usability, and discoverability for business users and data analysts
• Leverage Metabase to support semantic modeling and self-service analytics

SQL Expertise

• Write complex, optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
• Recommend SQL performance tuning best practices

Data Quality & Governance

• Implement data quality checks, validation processes, and governance policies
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability across data platforms

Collaboration

• Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to deliver effective data solutions

Troubleshooting & Optimization

• Identify and resolve data-related issues and performance bottlenecks
• Improve data infrastructure for greater efficiency and scalability

Innovation

• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, retail media, and cloud platforms
• Evaluate and recommend new tools and approaches to strengthen data platform capabilities

The Qualifications We Seek

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale data solutions
• Expert-level proficiency in SQL and strong knowledge of relational and analytical databases
• Hands-on experience using Google BigQuery and Snowflake as primary data warehousing solutions
• Extensive experience designing, building, and managing data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), including services such as GCP Dataflow, Dataform, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and AWS S3
• Solid experience using Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration and scheduling
• Experience with Metabase for semantic modeling, dashboarding, and self-service analytics
• Strong understanding of data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and the Kimball methodology
• Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation
• Experience using version control systems such as Git
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, Agile environment

Nice to Have

• Experience in the retail, e-commerce, or advertising technology (AdTech) industry
• Familiarity with streaming data processing technologies such as Kafka and Pub/Sub
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices for data pipelines
• Exposure to machine learning data pipelines and MLOps
