As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work on the technical foundation (platform + infrastructure) to ensure developers can develop and deploy software quickly, securely, and reliably. You will be part of the Technical Operations team and have a direct impact on the stability, performance, and scalability of the platform.
What will you be doing?Together with the team, you will tackle concrete challenges that add direct value to our platform and our users' experience:
- Ensuring and improving platform scalability and performance as the number of users and bookings grows.
- Optimising and managing our cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
- Improving and automating CI/CD pipelines for fast and secure deployments.
- Managing and evolving Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
- Enhancing monitoring, logging, and alerting with tools such as Honeybadger, New Relic, and CloudWatch.
- Contributing to architectural choices and long-term technical direction.
- Collaborating with software engineers to perfectly align the platform and applications.
- Analysing and resolving incidents structurally, with a focus on reliability and prevention.
- Continuously improving the developer experience within the platform team.
Team & CollaborationYou will work within an engineering organisation of 35+ engineers, specifically in the Technical Operations team.
You will work closely with:
- Gerjan (Staff Software Engineer)
- Arthur (Staff Software Engineer)
- Jurre (Senior Software Engineer)
- DevOps & Developer Experience (DX): Developing and maintaining technical tooling to empower developers to be self-sufficient. This includes removing obstacles to efficient development.
- Scalability: Ensuring the organisation can continue to scale—both in terms of the number of developers and the underlying infrastructure.
- Security & Privacy: Minimising risks; as such, Technical Operations plays a vital role in the implementation of ISO 27001 and GDPR within our organisation.
Stefan has over 20 years of experience in web-based software projects, with a strong background in Ruby on Rails, architecture, and product development. He works with the team at both a technical and strategic level, encouraging initiative and in-depth technical discussion.
Who are you?You are an experienced software engineer who feels at home in complex environments and takes responsibility for system reliability and scalability.
Furthermore, you have:
- At least a BSc in Computer Science (or equivalent level). An MSc is a plus;
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development;
- Experience in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Engineering;
- Experience with modern web technologies and backend systems (e.g., Ruby on Rails or similar);
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP;
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform);
- Knowledge of CI/CD and deployment automation;
- Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis (preferred);
- A mindset focused on scalable and maintainable solutions;
- The ability to take ownership and make independent technical decisions;
- Strong communication skills to justify technical choices and collaborate with fellow experts.

Work location and commitment
- Base locations: Enschede and Zwolle
- Hybrid working possible
- At least one day a week in the office in Enschede
- Available for a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Resident in the Netherlands
- Salary: €4,554 – €6,676 gross per month (based on 40 hours);
- 25 holiday days per year;
