We are seeking a hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer to own and scale the platform infrastructure behind a mission-critical, real-time software system. This is a highly cross-functional role that combines infrastructure, backend, platform, and reliability engineering.
You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating the core systems that support high-availability services, distributed workloads, and real-world operational environments. This role requires someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, takes pride in system reliability, and thrives with significant ownership.
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will help shape infrastructure strategy, establish engineering best practices, and build the foundation that enables the platform to scale reliably and securely.
Responsibilities
- Own cloud infrastructure, networking, compute orchestration, storage, and platform services
- Design and build resilient distributed systems capable of supporting high-throughput, mission-critical workloads
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, automated provisioning, and deployment workflows
- Establish and improve observability across the platform through logging, monitoring, tracing, dashboards, and alerting
- Define reliability, scalability, performance, and availability standards across production systems
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable safe, rapid, and repeatable deployments
- Improve platform security, access controls, system hardening, and operational readiness
- Collaborate with engineering teams to translate operational requirements into scalable architectural solutions
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive long-term improvements
- Help define the long-term infrastructure roadmap as systems and teams continue to grow
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an infrastructure, platform, backend, or systems engineer
- Deep experience with AWS or GCP, including networking, containers, load balancing, compute, and storage services
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience using Terraform or similar technologies
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, fault tolerance, resiliency patterns, and service-oriented architectures
- Proficiency in Go, Java, or another backend programming language
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, SLIs, SLOs, and operational excellence
- Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate independently in fast-paced environments with a high degree of ownership

- Experience with edge computing, device communication, or telemetry systems
- Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd
- Experience with distributed tracing and modern observability platforms
- Previous startup experience with high-growth engineering teams
