Principal Infrastructure Engineer

We’re looking for a Principal Infrastructure Engineer (Senior IC) to join a mission-driven organization modernizing secure digital services used by government and institutional partners.

This is a hands-on, Tier 3 technical leadership role (no management responsibilities) where you would own and resolve the most complex infrastructure challenges across the enterprise.

You’ll operate as the senior technical authority across a hybrid, multi-network environment, helping stabilize, optimize, and evolve a highly complex infrastructure landscape.

What you’ll be working with:

• VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter, HA/DRS, vMotion, shared storage)
• Palo Alto next-generation firewalls (segmented environments, VPN, security policy design)
• Active Directory (multi-domain / multi-forest environments, hybrid identity)
• Microsoft Azure (hybrid infrastructure and cloud integration)
• Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, E3/E5 environments)
• Enterprise backup, monitoring, and security tooling (e.g., Veeam, Dynatrace, SolarWinds)

What the role focuses on:

• Acting as the top escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
• Diagnosing and resolving cross-domain problems across network, security, virtualization, identity, and cloud systems
• Assessing current infrastructure and identifying technical debt, risks, and architectural gaps
• Designing and executing a roadmap toward a more scalable, resilient, and secure environment
• Supporting long-term cloud migration and compliance readiness efforts (government-aligned frameworks)

What they’re looking for:

• 10+ years of hands-on infrastructure engineering experience
• Deep expertise in VMware and enterprise virtualization
• Strong background with Palo Alto firewalls and network segmentation
• Advanced Active Directory and hybrid identity experience
• Strong Azure and Microsoft ecosystem knowledge
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex, multi-layer infrastructure issues independently
