Engineering Manager - IaaS - STACKIT (m/f/d)

Schwarz Digits creates the technological foundation for digital sovereignty in Europe. As the IT and digital division of the Schwarz Group, we develop and manage the IT infrastructures for the retail divisions Lidl and Kaufland, as well as Schwarz Production and PreZero. At the same time, we operate as an independent provider in the external market to support companies across Europe in their digital transformation. We bundle our core services in the areas of Cloud, Cyber Security, Data & AI, Communication, and Workspace.

The Impact You Will Create

• Help team members play to their strengths and grow their careers
• Hire strong engineers to keep service and engineering quality high and support STACKIT's growth
• Own the design, development, delivery, and operation of our IaaS cloud services (compute, storage, networking)
• Own the technical product vision based on customer needs and help shape the roadmap
• Run code reviews to keep the codebase scalable, maintainable, and correct
• Work closely with product management, architecture, and adjacent engineering teams
• Provide technical guidance and contribute hands-on to the hardest problems

Experience And Skills You Will Need

• 5+ years building and shipping software products
• 3+ years in a technical leadership role, with responsibility for both projects and people
• Deep expertise in highly available distributed systems and cloud-native architecture
• Solid knowledge of Go, Docker, and Kubernetes, plus hands-on experience with IaaS technologies (e.g. OpenStack, virtualisation, SDN, storage systems)
• Experience designing, building, and operating cloud services
• Servant-leader mindset, focused on growing the people on your team
• Comfortable in complex, fast-moving environments with competing priorities
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Excellent English
