DevOps Engineer

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a critical cyber security initiative within a highly secure and mission-focused environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying and managing secure cloud-based infrastructure, implementing automation and CI/CD practices, and driving continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern DevOps technologies while contributing to the reliability, scalability and security of mission-critical systems. This role is a 12-month contract based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Canberra.
Requirements
What You'll Do
- Design, deploy and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments
- Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management solutions using Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation
- Develop automation scripts and tooling using Python, Bash and PowerShell to improve operational efficiency
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Monitor system performance, reliability and security through proactive logging, alerting and incident response practices
- Collaborate with software engineers, cloud specialists and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and streamline delivery processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, documentation, knowledge sharing and DevOps capability uplift across the team
- Demonstrated experience designing and supporting cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments
- Strong expertise in AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms and associated services
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools including Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation
- Proven experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar technologies
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash and/or PowerShell
- Experience deploying and operating containerised workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of networking, systems engineering, security principles and cloud service models
- Experience with monitoring, logging and observability platforms such as Prometheus, ELK Stack or equivalent
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex, high-security environments
- Current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance, or the ability to meet all role eligibility requirements
