As a Storage & Virtualization Systems Engineer (m/f/d) in Global Data Center Operations, you will design, run, and improve large, critical compute and storage systems across multiple data centers, as well as help shape global platform architecture, ensure systems are standardized and reliable, and support 24/7 operations in a worldwide environment.
How you create impact
- Design, operate, and optimize large-scale compute and storage platforms across global data centers and hybrid environments.
- Build, standardize, and run VMware-based platforms (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, Aria vRealize).
- Manage x86 servers (Dell, HPE, Lenovo), including lifecycle, firmware, and capacity planning.
- Design and operate enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, object storage) using technologies like Brocade, NetApp, StorageGRID, and Pure Storage.
- Define and run backup and disaster recovery solutions with Commvault.
- Lead global infrastructure projects such as migrations, upgrades, standardization, and decommissioning.
- Improve operations through automation, scripting, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code; act as an escalation point for incidents, root cause analysis, and remediation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain documentation and standards, and support 24/7 follow-the-sun operations with on-call rotations.
- 3+ years of experience in enterprise or global data center operations.
- Strong knowledge of VMware technologies (vSphere, vCenter, NSX, Aria vRealize).
- Hands-on experience with x86 servers (Dell, HPE, Lenovo), including infrastructure management.
- Solid expertise in SAN and storage systems, including Brocade SAN (fabrics, zoning), NetApp (NAS, MetroCluster, replication, cloning), StorageGRID (object storage), and Pure Storage (FlashArray, FlashBlade).
- Experience with enterprise backup, recovery, and business continuity using Commvault.
- Skills in automation and infrastructure as code using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Good understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and resilient system design.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work in global teams, and fluency in English.
