Overview

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Own and lead large-scale hybrid and multi-cloud architecture advisory programs for enterprise clients — setting the overall hybrid architecture vision, platform strategy, and governance approach across on-premises, colocation, and public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) environments. Serve as the executive trusted advisor to CTO, CIO, and senior technology leaders on hybrid cloud strategy, platform choices (VMware Cloud Foundation vs Nutanix vs hyperscaler-managed), and workload placement decisions. Define the target-state hybrid architecture including private cloud platform design, hyperscaler extension patterns, and unified governance frameworks.

Shape the hybrid security architecture stance for client engagements — setting Zero Trust principles across the full hybrid estate, defining hybrid IAM and identity federation models (Active Directory, Entra ID, Okta), network segmentation strategy spanning SD-WAN, ZTNA, and dedicated interconnects, and encryption frameworks that apply consistently across on-premises and cloud environments.

Define the multi-cloud FinOps strategy for client hybrid estates — setting financial governance models that span on-premises infrastructure lifecycle costs and cloud consumption, using tooling such as VMware CloudHealth and Apptio Cloudability alongside hyperscaler-native billing platforms. Own the investment decision framework for platform refresh, cloud migration, and hybrid extension choices.

Set the IaC and platform engineering standards across the hybrid estate — defining governance and tooling choices (Terraform, Ansible, vRealize Automation, Nutanix Calm), and architectural patterns that work consistently across VMware, Nutanix, and hyperscaler environments. Own the observability architecture strategy, defining unified monitoring frameworks using Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, and VMware Aria Operations.

Beyond core hybrid architecture, shape how the practice engages across adjacent areas — defining the hybrid AI infrastructure strategy covering on-premises GPU environments, private cloud AI stacks, and hyperscaler AI services (SageMaker, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI); setting the hybrid cloud substrate that Tech Modernization and Technology Resiliency colleagues build upon; and leading ecosystem advisory covering VMware/Broadcom, Nutanix, Dell, HPE, Cisco, and hyperscaler partner landscape.

Lead business development activities including RFP and RFI responses, solutioning for large hybrid cloud architecture and transformation programs, client presentations at CTO/CIO level. Shape and evolve hybrid cloud architecture advisory offerings, reference architectures, and methodologies that strengthen the practice.

Build practice capability through asset development, methodologies, and points of view.

Qualifications

Educational Background

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. A Master's degree (MBA, MSc in Cloud Computing, or equivalent) is preferred, particularly when paired with deep experience in cloud architecture advisory and enterprise technology strategy.

Certifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional OR Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) OR Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect (at least one)

14+ years of relevant experience in consulting, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise technology organisations. At least 6 years leading hybrid and multi-cloud architecture strategy and advisory engagements for enterprise clients, with a demonstrated track record of executive-level advisory, program leadership, and practice development.

Proven experience owning the end-to-end hybrid architecture vision for large transformation programs — setting target-state designs spanning on-premises private cloud (VMware, Nutanix), colocation, and public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and governing architecture quality across delivery teams.

Deep experience shaping security posture across hybrid estates — defining Zero Trust frameworks that span on-premises and cloud, hybrid IAM and identity federation strategies, SD-WAN and ZTNA network segmentation models, and encryption frameworks that apply consistently across heterogeneous environments.

Experience defining and owning multi-cloud FinOps strategy — building financial governance models that span infrastructure lifecycle costs and cloud consumption using CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, and hyperscaler billing platforms; owning the investment decision framework for platform refresh, migration, and hybrid extension choices.
