Ko tō tūranga – your role
As the Project Manager your role is to successfully deliver projects across the Cloud & Infrastructure Platforms domains, including Datacentres and Modern Workplace initiatives, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes, budget, quality standards, and scope. Working closely with programme leadership and cross-functional technology teams, you will play a key role in driving modernisation initiatives while maintaining consistency in project delivery practices and stakeholder engagement.
Ko Tō Mahi – What You’ll Do
- Deliver projects within agreed quality, budget, scope, and time parameters
- Support the delivery of strategic technology modernisation initiatives including cloud transformation, infrastructure lifecycle management, datacentre optimisation, workplace technology refresh, and platform migration programmes.
- Manage dependencies across cloud, datacentre, workplace, cybersecurity, and operational support teams.
- Support architecture governance processes including solution design reviews and technical approval forums.
- Drive delivery of platform transformation initiatives including cloud adoption, containerisation, automation, and legacy technology retirement.
- Coordinate infrastructure build, migration, testing, cutover, and decommissioning activities across cloud, virtualisation, container, storage, backup, and datacentre platforms.
- Proactively manage vendors, suppliers, and delivery partners to achieve successful project outcomes
- Hold vendors accountable and drive delivery outcomes that benefit One NZ
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders
- Produce clear and accurate project scope and governance documentation
- Maintain project status reporting, forecasting, and financial tracking throughout the project lifecycle
- Analyse delivery processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across tools, methodologies, and practices
- Facilitate effective project meetings and drive accountability across delivery teams
- Ensure successful project completion, transition activities, and close-down documentation
- Prince2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification
- Proven project management experience, ideally within telecommunications or large enterprise environments
- Proven experience delivering large-scale cloud and infrastructure technology projects.
- Experience delivering projects across one or more of the following domains: hybrid cloud, datacentre infrastructure, virtualisation, container platforms, workplace technologies, storage, backup and recovery, or network-integrated technology environments.
- Experience managing complex technology migrations, infrastructure refreshes, platform upgrades, production cutovers, and technology lifecycle initiatives.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure, AWS, storage and backup platforms, and enterprise networking concepts.
- Experience managing projects involving platform migrations, datacentre technologies, cloud transformation, or infrastructure modernisation programmes.
- Understanding of technology governance, architecture review processes, risk management, and operational readiness activities.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, business cases, and governance reporting within large enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of FinOps principles and technology optimisation practices
- Demonstrated capability managing supplier and vendor contracts within complex delivery environments
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across fast-paced and evolving technology environments
