As a Cybersecurity Architect you will work on meaningful client challenges and deliver practical outcomes that strengthen cyber maturity, resilience, and decision-making.
In this role, you will design, build, and oversee clients’ security posture. You . You will be responsible for ensuring that systems, applications, networks, and data are securely designed and built to protect against evolving threats while aligning with business objectives and various regulatory requirements where necessary. This role requires a highly technical expert to drive both technical and non-technical stakeholder engagement and deliver secure architecture outcomes across cloud and on-premises environments.
Ko Tō Rourou | Your key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive security architectures for complex, large-scale ICT environments, including cloud-native applications, hybrid networks, and SaaS solutions.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Identify and assess security risks, conduct threat modelling, and define mitigation strategies, ensuring security controls are commensurate to risk appetite.
- Compliance & Frameworks: Ensure alignment with security standards and frameworks (e.g., APRA, NIST CSF, ISO 27005, PCI-DSS, GDPR, ISM and MITRE ATT&CK) and review current-state architecture documentation for on-going security uplift programmes.
- Secure Architecture Standards: Define and maintain security "standard patterns" and best practices, acting as a key advisor to project teams, application developers and IT infrastructure/Network teams.
- Evaluation & Recommendation: Evaluate and recommend new security tooling and technologies, including firewalls, IAM integrations, and vulnerability discovery systems, to enhance security posture.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate security concepts, risks, and proposed architectures effectively to technical staff and senior business leadership.
- 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, engineering, or risk management within complex, large-scale environments. Experience within Consumer industry would be beneficial.
- Cloud Security: Demonstrable experience designing secure cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and implementing security for modern cloud applications (SaaS, cloud-native, microservices, etc,).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of network security protocols, cryptography, identity management, and application security principles.
- Frameworks: Deep understanding of modern security and threat frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS, MITRE ATT&CK).
- Soft Skills: Demonstrable and proven ability to influence and effectively communicate security and risk management concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, manage third-party stakeholders, and solve complex security problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field beneficial.
- Industry certifications such as: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or SABSA certification are highly regarded.
- Security Vendor certifications are optional, but well regarded: Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Crowdstrike, Fortinet, etc.
- Cloud Service Provider (CSP) certifications: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP.
