Sales Engineer - Enterprise Security (Cloud, Cryptography, Confidential Computing)
At Fortanix, we're redefining how the world secures data—in use, in motion, and at rest. From confidential computing to AI security, we help some of the most security-conscious organizations protect what matters most.
We're looking for a Sales Engineer, covering the DACH region, who doesn't just support deals—but drives them. Someone who thrives in technical conversations, builds trust quickly, and turns complex security challenges into clear, compelling solutions.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you'll partner closely with Sales while also influencing Product, Engineering, and Customer Success—and directly shape how customers adopt cutting-edge security technologies.
What You'll Do
Own the technical win.
You'll be a core driver of revenue—leading the technical strategy behind deals, from first conversation to close and beyond.
Run consultative, high-value engagements
- Guide prospects through complex security challenges and position Fortanix as a core part of their infrastructure
- Translate deep technical concepts into real business value
- Get to the root of customer problems—not just surface requirements
- Shape solutions that align to real-world use cases and constraints
- Own technical evaluations end-to-end
- Partner with customers to prove value quickly and decisively
- Build tailored demos that resonate with technical and executive audiences
- Train and enable customers to adopt and expand
- Work closely with Engineering and Product to stay ahead of what's coming
- Bring back real-world feedback that influences roadmap and positioning
- Turn wins into expansions, renewals, and strong references
- Be a trusted advisor—not just a pre-sales resource
- Work on cutting-edge security problems (AI security, confidential computing)
- Be part of a category-defining company with real traction
- Direct impact on revenue, product direction, and customer success
- High autonomy, high ownership, and high visibility
- 5+ years as a Sales Engineer in enterprise security, infrastructure, or cloud
- Proven experience supporting complex enterprise deals ($1M+)
- Strong hands-on technical ability (you can actually do, not just talk)
- Experience with scripting/programming (Python, Bash, etc.)
- HSMs and crypto interfaces (PKCS#11, CAPI, CNG, JCE)
- KMS systems (KMIP, REST APIs)
- Cloud key management (AWS KMS/CloudHSM, Azure Key Vault, Google KMS, etc.)
- Real-world use cases (TDE, TLS, blockchain, secure manufacturing, etc.)
- Is fluent in German
- Thrives in a roll-up-your-sleeves startup environment
- Communicates clearly with both engineers and executives
- Collaborates naturally across teams and with partners
- Brings energy, curiosity, and a strong ownership mindset
- Experience with Confidential Computing
- Exposure to GenAI / RAG architectures, especially securing data pipelines
- Security certifications (CISSP, Security+, etc.)
- Experience selling into Global 1000 or Financial Services
- We offer a collaborative work environment, amazing equity, great benefits, competitive salary, and the opportunity to redefine cloud computing.
- 40 hours of Volunteer Time Off/year
- Internet stipend
- Friendly culture that brings the best out of everybody
