A specialist UX and Service Design consultancy is seeking a Senior Interaction Designer to work on healthcare projects for public sector clients. You'll help create intuitive, accessible and user-centred experiences that solve complex problems, improve access to services and deliver better outcomes for users. You'll join a collaborative team of researchers, service designers and digital specialists who care deeply about evidence-led design and meaningful change.
What you’ll be doing
The consultancy is looking for a Senior Interaction Designer with experience working across discovery, alpha and beta phases of digital service development. You'll create user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and detailed design specifications, turning user needs and research insights into practical digital solutions in accordance with GDS guidelines.
Working within multidisciplinary teams, you'll collaborate closely with service designers, user researchers, developers and stakeholders to design services that are accessible, effective and easy to use. You'll champion inclusive design practices, ensure accessibility standards are met as a minimum, and continually refine solutions through testing and feedback.
You'll also facilitate workshops, contribute to co-design activities, present design recommendations to clients and support the growth of the wider design practice. You'll join a research-led team, contributing design-led thinking and championing user needs while mentoring and supporting less experienced designers.
What experience you’ll need to apply
- Proven experience as an Interaction Designer.
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and able to work with the NHS design system or GDS to prototype in code (not production ready).
- Working to the Gov service standard.
- Experience designing digital products and services for healthcare or public sector.
- Expertise in Figma or similar design and prototyping tools.
- A basic level of content design skills.
- Able to run research to test designs with users.
- Excellent understanding of user-centred design principles and UX methodologies.
- Experience working across the full design lifecycle from discovery through to delivery.
- Strong skills in creating user flows, wireframes and prototypes.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles (WCAG 2.2 AA minimum).
- Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
What you’ll get in return for your experience
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, friendly team that values and advocates for user-centred design. You’ll enjoy mostly remote working within the UK, along with benefits including an annual bonus, 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, and private healthcare.
