Join us as a Health & Safety Officer and become the safety champion our project teams and clients rely on. This role puts your technical expertise front and center, ensuring every worksite meets the highest safety standards.
The Health and Safety Officer will provide support to the GSC, Solutions and Services Business Units, as well as Front Office and Back Office functions, ensuring compliance with Schneider Electric HSE requirements, ISO management systems, legal obligations, and customer expectations.
What will you do?
- Support the implementation and maintenance of Schneider Electric HSE programs and procedures.
- Provide HSE support to GSC, Solutions and Services activities, as well as Front Office and Back Office operations.
- Projects HSE support
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Conduct risk assessments and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Contractor management - compliance evaluation, training and certification.
- Review HSE documentation and ensure compliance with internal, legal, and customer requirements.
- Support site inspections, audits, and HSE assessments.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Deliver HSE awareness sessions and promote a positive safety culture.
- Monitor contractor compliance with HSE requirements.
- Support HSE reporting, data analysis, and performance tracking.
What are the key skills we are looking for?
- Risk Assessment - intermediate level; evaluating electrical hazards and implementing controls to prevent shocks and arc flashes
- Safety Auditing - intermediate level; inspecting project sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations
- Incident Management - intermediate level; developing emergency response plans and coordinating drills for project teams
- Communication - intermediate level; explaining safety procedures clearly to employees, contractors, and clients
- Customer Orientation - intermediate level; addressing client safety concerns and ensuring their understanding of protocols
- Problem Solving - developing level; identifying safety gaps and creating practical solutions for complex project environments
What qualifications will make you successful?
- National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field (NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, etc).
- Registered with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer or eligible for registration.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an HSE/Safety Officer role.
- Working knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Knowledge of applicable South African HSE legislation and industry best practices.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and administrative skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Incident Accident investigation , Risk Assessor, Legal Liability and other relevant HSE qualifications
- Ability to support multiple business functions and work independently.
