Head of Cloud Infrastructure - Leicester (hybrid, 3 days onsite) | £70,000 - £80,000
Own an Azure migration from the ground up. Our client is moving from a private cloud, Windows Server environment to a modern Azure-first setup, and they're only at the pre-planning stage. That means you design it, you build it, you deliver it. Cradle to grave.
This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role in a small IT function. You'll sit as peer to the Head of IT Services, owning infrastructure, cloud, networking, security technologies and integration architecture while they run service management and end-user computing. Two different lanes, same level.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading technical design and delivery of the Azure migration, working with internal stakeholders and third-party partners
- Owning Azure and Microsoft 365 architecture: landing zones, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview
- Holding infrastructure availability, resilience and performance during the transition
- Setting the technical standards for integration, APIs and platform connectivity
- Acting as senior technical escalation point for the team
- Building out the platform engineering capability as the function grows (a Cloud Engineer hire is planned for 2027, who'll report to you)
What you'll need:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, not just strategy from the sidelines
- Solid background across Windows Server, networking and core infrastructure
- Proven delivery of cloud migration or infrastructure transformation
- Working knowledge of Entra ID, Intune, Defender and security best practice
- Experience securing cloud and infrastructure platforms: firewalls, WAF, network security, vulnerability management, Zero Trust
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on level in a small team
- Confidence managing third-party suppliers and technical partners
Nice to have:
Business Central SaaS, Nessus Tenable, Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Terraform/IaC, SQL, Meraki, and any exposure to building or governing API/integration platforms.
Security isn't all on you: there's a 24/7 SOC in place, so you're not carrying incident response alone. CyberEssentials and/or ISO27001 exposure is a strong plus.
Three days a week in the Leicester office, the rest remote. Standard hours Monday to Friday with occasional out-of-hours work during major incidents or deployments.
If you want a migration you can actually own from day one, not inherit halfway through, this is it.
