Duties
- Provide Tier 2/3 IT support for Windows, macOS, mobile devices, software applications, and peripheral equipment. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network, and security-related incidents. Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade desktop, laptop, and communication technologies. Administer user accounts, access permissions, password resets, and identity management processes. Monitor and maintain system performance, availability, and reliability across supported environments. Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies, security controls, and information assurance requirements. Support network connectivity, telecommunications, video conferencing, and hybrid meeting technologies. Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles. Provide end-user training, technical guidance, and customer support to clinical and research staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, implement, and improve IT solutions that support clinical research and healthcare operations.
Qualifications
For all IT positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND, you qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: Completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such an equivalent doctoral degree; OR In order to qualify for an Information Technology Specialist to, GS-2210 position at the GS-11 level, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: 1. Schedule and coordinate the acquisition, upgrade, and maintenance of customer workstations and related IT equipment.; 2. Provide support for the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure and services.; 3. Receive, respond to, and ensure the timely resolution of customer requests for technical assistance, including help desk tickets and service calls.; 4. Assist in the execution and monitoring of backup and recovery procedures for operating systems, applications, and network data. 5. Implement and maintain IT security controls, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and protecting systems, devices, and data from unauthorized access or security threats. AND, you qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements: In order to qualify for an Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210 position at the GS-12 level, you must have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: 1. Analyze configuration management processes and procedures and develop recommendations for improving configuration management through enhanced processes, software solutions, and technical standards.; 2. Resolve customer support requests involving complex integration, system configuration, and interoperability issues across diverse platforms, operating systems, applications, and desktop environments.; 3. Perform network configuration management functions to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of network infrastructure and services.; 4. Maintain daily Local Area Network (LAN) operations, including monitoring system performance, identifying issues, and implementing corrective actions.; 5. Coordinate the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of LAN hardware, software, telecommunications systems, and networking components to support organizational operations. A combination of education and specialized experience that meets the qualification requirements for this position at the GS-11 grade level.
