Who are we?
Defence Housing Australia (DHA) provides housing and housing-related services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families, supporting Defence capability.
We achieve this through:
- managing a national housing portfolio
- partnering with Defence to shape and administer housing policy
- delivering tailored housing services to ADF members and their families
DHA offers diverse career opportunities across a broad range of functions, including:
- property and housing services (sales, leasing and acquisitions)
- building and construction (technical, heritage and upgrades)
- governance (security, fraud, risk and work health and safety)

About the Temporary Employment Register
DHA maintains a Temporary Employment Register to attract talented, enthusiastic and capable individuals for short-term opportunities across a range of business areas and classification levels.
Opportunities may be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on business needs.
Roles filled through the register are temporary, with an initial non-ongoing engagement of up to 12 months, with the potential for extension of up to a further 6 months.
Please note:
- Engagement through this register does not provide a pathway to ongoing employment under the Public Service Act 1999.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee employment.
If a suitable opportunity arises that matches your skills and experience, DHA may contact you to discuss the role.
Applications will remain active until 30 June 2027 and will not be carried over beyond this date.
Key duties
Duties will vary depending on the role and business area. Applicants are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the APS Work Level Standards to understand capability expectations across classification levels.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment with DHA, applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen
- obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance
