Job Summary

The HRIS Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for the day-to-day management, configuration, optimization, and operational stability of Morton Salt’s UKG environment, while also supporting a broader HR technology landscape that includes Dayforce, SAP, ADP, and related systems.

This role serves as the primary owner of UKG (including UKG Pro and UKG Workforce/Time solutions), ensuring the system is effectively configured, supported, and continuously improved to meet business and compliance needs. In addition, this role provides oversight and coordination across other HR systems, ensuring data consistency, integration stability, and effective cross-system processes.

Operating with a high degree of independence, the HRIS Manager translates business and HR requirements into scalable system solutions, drives enhancements, and ensures data integrity across platforms. This role partners closely with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Operations, IT, and external vendors to deliver reliable system performance and improved user experience.

This position acts as the primary escalation point for complex system and data issues and provides functional leadership and subject matter expertise, with a primary focus on UKG and supporting accountability across the broader HR systems ecosystem. Enterprise HRIS strategy and prioritization remain with the Director, HRIS.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the system owner and primary administrator for UKG Pro and UKG Workforce/Time, overseeing configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Lead execution of UKG-focused enhancements, including workflows, business rules, pay rules, accruals, scheduling, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Manage ongoing system maintenance activities, including releases, patches, and configuration updates.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Tier 2/3 system issues, with a focus on UKG and oversight across other HR systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve automation, and enhance system usability.
  • Provide oversight and support for other HR systems (e.g., Dayforce, SAP, ADP, and related platforms), ensuring effective system usage, data accuracy, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of employee data across multiple systems, including validation and reconciliation activities.
  • Oversee and support integrations and data flows between UKG and other HR systems, including payroll, benefits vendors, and third-party platforms.
  • Monitor and manage interface performance and data exchanges, ensuring timely resolution of errors and data issues.
  • Partner with HR, Payroll, and IT to ensure accurate data handoffs across systems and downstream processes.
  • Lead system-related testing activities, including regression testing, payroll/time validation, and release cycles.
  • Maintain HR data integrity across platforms, including audits, data validation, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Design, develop, and maintain HR reporting and analytics, supporting operational, compliance, and leadership needs.
  • Own and deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Partner with IT to manage system security, access controls, and audit processes across HR platforms.
  • Coordinate vendor support activities, including UKG case management and support for other system vendors.
  • Support audit and compliance activities, including SOX, payroll audits, and data privacy requirements.
  • Develop and maintain HRIS documentation, configurations, and SOPs.
  • Provide functional leadership and mentorship to HRIS Analysts, supporting skill development and best practices.
  • Communicate system issues, project updates, and risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of HRIS experience, with significant hands-on responsibility supporting enterprise HR systems.
  • Strong experience serving as a primary owner or lead administrator of UKG Pro and/or UKG Workforce Management/Time.
  • Advanced expertise in UKG configuration, including:
    • Employee data structures and workflows
    • Payroll setup (earnings, deductions, taxes)
    • Time & attendance (pay rules, accruals, scheduling)
    • Security roles and approvals
  • Experience supporting additional HR systems such as Dayforce, SAP, ADP, or similar platforms, including an understanding of how they interact within a broader HR technology landscape.
  • Strong understanding of cross-system data flows, integrations, and reconciliation processes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system, integration, and data issues.
  • Experience supporting HR system integrations and vendor interfaces (file-based and/or API-based).
  • Strong understanding of HR, Payroll, and Time processes, particularly in a multi-site, multi-state, or multi-country environment.
  • Advanced reporting and analytics experience, including development of reports and data extracts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas); Power BI or similar tools preferred.
  • Experience supporting audit, compliance, and data governance requirements (e.g., SOX, payroll audits).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution.
