About the Role

This role is for a Senior Account Executive who is comfortable with learning directly from founder-led sales motion and translating to create your own pipeline — starting with your network in the energy sector.


This isn't a "run the established playbook" role. You'll be building the sales motion alongside our CEO: learning how we sell complex, multi-stakeholder platform deals, then adapting that approach to your relationships and target accounts. You'll start with energy & utilities (where we see strong product-market fit) but expand as we discover new opportunities together.


You'll operate with significant autonomy: generating your own pipeline through your network, running deals end-to-end with light support, building sales collateral when it doesn't exist, and helping define what "good" looks like across the board.


This role is for someone who: Has been an early sales hire before. Brings a strong energy/utilities network. Learns fast from watching the founder sell. Generates pipeline from relationships, networks, and outbound activity. Thrives in early-stage go-to-market environments.


What You'll Do:

  • Generate Pipeline — Leverage your deep network in energy & utilities relationships to create qualified opportunities.
  • Learn the Founder Selling Motion — Shadow founder-led deals, absorb the narrative, understand how we navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems, then replicate it in your own deals
  • Close Deals End-to-End — Own the full sales cycle from first conversation to signed contract: discovery, scoping, demos, business case development, negotiation, and close
  • Build Your Own Sales Collateral — When the deck doesn't exist or doesn't fit, you build it. No waiting for marketing. You create one-pagers, case studies, and custom narratives
  • Navigate Multi-Stakeholder Sales — Sell to complex buying committees across operations, community engagement, and C-suite stakeholders who need to align on collaborative initiatives
  • Define the Energy ICP — Help us understand what works in energy & utilities: which personas buy, what pain points resonate, which use cases convert, and how to replicate it
  • Experiment & Iterate — Try different outreach approaches, messaging angles, and sales plays. Measure what works. Kill what doesn't. Share learnings with the team
  • Cross-Functional Partner — Work alongside Customer Success (handoffs), Product (customer insights), and Implementation (demos), chipping in wherever needed to unblock customers or close deals
  • Wear Multiple Hats — Some days, you're strategizing with leadership. On other days, you're delivering a C-suite vision for our customers. You do what needs doing

The Archetype: You're a network-driven seller who builds your own pipeline and thrives in early-stage go-to-market environments. You bring your network and know how to turn relationships into revenue. You learn by watching, then execute independently. You don't need a sales playbook handed to you — you help build it. You're equally comfortable whiteboarding a vision with the CEO or building your own demo.


Your Traits:

  • Network-Driven — You have deep relationships in energy & utilities (utilities, energy providers, sustainability leaders, operations execs), and you know how to activate them.
  • Sales Motion Builder — You've helped build sales approaches before: learned from leadership, translated vision into deals, and created repeatable motions in new markets or sectors
  • Fast Learner — You absorb complex product positioning quickly, understand multi-stakeholder value props, and can explain systems thinking to executives
  • Consultative Seller — You diagnose before you pitch. You uncover strategic initiatives, map stakeholders, and position Metaimpact as the connective tissue for complex collaboration
  • Closer — You own deals end-to-end and know how to navigate procurement, legal, security reviews, and multi-stakeholder approvals to get to signature
  • Builder Mentality — When collateral doesn't exist, you create it. When process doesn't exist, you define it. You don't wait to be enabled
  • Comfortable with Ambiguity — Early-stage sales motions don't scare you. You've figured out "what works" before when no one had the answer
  • Strategic Thinker — You connect the dots between customer pain points, platform capabilities, and long-term account potential
  • Resilient — You don't get rattled by "no." You learn from losses, iterate your approach, and keep moving
  • Collaborative Orchestrator: You know when to bring in internal resources and how to coordinate them effectively.


Bonus points:

  • You've been an early sales hire (first or second) at a startup
  • You've worked with configurable platforms or products that require customer implementation
  • Background in systems thinking, customer management, or collaborative ecosystems


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in B2B sales as an early hire or former founder with at least 2-4 years in leadership or player-coach roles
  • You've generated significant pipeline from your own network and outbound efforts. You discover strategic initiatives, map ecosystems, and position platform value.
  • Track record navigating enterprise deals with 5+ stakeholders and 6+ month sales cycles
  • Comfortable selling configurable platforms that require customer implementation
  • Executive presence and confidence to build credibility with C-level stakeholders
  • Strong communication, presentation, and consultative skills
  • A foundational understanding of how software platforms and systems work — not necessarily deeply technical, but technically curious and capable.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent preferred

  • Transactional sellers who need short sales cycles and simple value props
  • AEs who rely on SDRs and inbound to fill their pipeline
  • People who need a proven playbook and can't operate without one
  • Sellers who delegate demos and discovery to solutions consultants without staying deeply involved
