Role Overview


This role owns and scales the email and SMS lifecycle for our direct-to-consumer ecommerce business, with a strong focus on revenue growth, retention, and customer engagement.


You will lead both the strategy and hands-on execution of our email and SMS channels, building campaigns, optimizing lifecycle flows, and leveraging data to continuously improve performance. This includes ownership of segmentation, automation, deliverability, and reporting.


This is a highly visible role responsible for turning email and SMS into a top-performing revenue channel, not just a communication tool. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with platforms like Klaviyo, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for delivering personalized, high-impact messaging.



Responsibilities


Here are some examples of work your day would include:



  • Own and optimize the full email and SMS lifecycle to drive revenue, customer engagement, and retention

  • Manage and maintain customer data within Klaviyo, ensuring accurate audience segmentation, list hygiene, and CRM best practices to enhance targeting and personalization

  • Implement strategies to grow email and SMS subscriber lists while maintaining quality and compliance

  • Analyze email and SMS campaign performance, including open rates, CTRs, conversion rates, and revenue impact, while providing regular reporting with insights and recommendations

  • Optimize email/SMS templates for deliverability, engagement, and conversion using A/B testing and personalization strategies

  • Work closely with content, design, and product teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice

  • Create automated workflows, behavior-based messaging sequences, and winback campaigns to enhance customer retention

  • Manage the organic social content calendar in alignment with email campaigns, overseeing daily posting, engagement, and scheduling to maintain cohesive cross-channel messaging

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, updates to the email service provider (Klaviyo), and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of campaigns

  • Develop, document, and implement best practices for email and SMS marketing to ensure consistent execution across the team




Don’t know about ponds? That’s ok! You’ll be trained to be proficient in your job. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of the TPG family of brands' proactive approach to pond management.


Skill Set


To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:



  • 4+ years of experience in email and SMS marketing, with a strong focus on strategy, automation, and analytics

  • Experience working with D2C Ecommerce brands is required

  • Expert-level proficiency in Klaviyo or similar email service provider platform, including flows, segmentation, reporting, and integrations

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and optimize campaigns for performance

  • Experience with A/B testing, deliverability best practices, and email/SMS compliance regulations for email and SMS

  • Strong project management skills utilizing work management software (such as Asana)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail

  • Basic HTML and CSS knowledge for email formatting is a plus


The ideal candidate is both highly technical and strategically focused, combining deep technical expertise with a strong ability to develop and execute effective strategies. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks.


This position requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk, and looking at a computer screen for long periods of time. In addition, portions of the position may require job shadowing and training, which includes physical activity of lifting 25-35 pounds and standing for long periods of time.


Availability


This is a full-time position. The typical schedule will be 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. However, some evenings and Saturdays may be required for projects that must be done outside of regular business hours.


Remote Position
Our Email & SMS Marketing Manager - Nationwide Ecommerce role is a work-from-home position. However, there are certain times our this role may be required to come onsite, or report virtually, for training or other employer-sponsored events that are during or outside your regular work schedule. Remote employees must be able to meet the standards of The Pond Guy’s telecommuting policy, which includes internet speeds and workspace requirements.
