Platform Engineer

We are hiring aPlatformEngineeron our Infrastructure Patching Services Team at BCBST!In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting the organization by driving the reporting, triage, and assignment of remediation efforts across thousands of systems and hundreds of thousands of vulnerabilities each month. You’ll support enterprise patching and security remediation efforts across Windows and Linux (RHEL) environments, working with tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, HCL BigFix, Qualys, and ServiceNow Vulnerability Response. This role requires strong backend operating system research and analysis, including validating whether vulnerabilities truly exist, determining patch applicability and system impact, partnering closely with OS and security teams, and completing the documentation needed for exceptions or false positives. Your work will directly support secure, timely patch remediation at the OS and server level and help reduce organizational risk.To be successful in this role, in addition to the core job requirements, you’ll bring a strong Windows and Linux background, the ability to research and assess operating system vulnerabilities, and the confidence to communicate effectively with technical teams about remediation options and impacts. You will be a strong candidate for this role if you have experience with vulnerability remediation, patch bundling from vendors, ServiceNow VR documentation and workflow, and enterprise collaboration tools such as Office 365, Teams, Copilot, and Azure DevOps. Familiarity with PI Planning and working cross-functionally with infrastructure and security teams will also help you thrive in this position.

Note:

• This is a remote, work-from-home position, but the final round of interviews will take place on-site in our Chattanooga, TN office.
• This role includes an on-call rotation of 1 week every 6–7 weeks.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Builds the infrastructure and services required to support platforms, including monitoring, and management of server infrastructure.
• Maintain and improve build and release management systems
• Implement internal APIs and tools to support backend services.
• Perform customization and configuration changes on platforms.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field or equivalent years of experience is required.
• Equivalent years of experience are defined as 4 years of professional experience.

Experience

• 3 years of experience in an Information Technology role required.

Skills/Certifications

• Applied knowledge of infrastructure technologies including infrastructure services, platform technologies and monitoring tools.
• Systematic, fact based decision making and problem solving.
• Strong inter-personal skills and ability to cultivate relationships with all internal/external stakeholders, promoting diversity of perspectives, ideas and cultures.
• Exceptional work ethic, high sense of urgency, driven, self-motivated, highly accountable with strong initiative and passion.
• Ability to clearly articulate ideas, problem/solution/business value descriptions that can be understood by a broad audience
• Organization skills and ability to work on multiple projects and/or assignments simultaneously
• Must be willing to adjust schedule to perform maintenance and upgrades outside of business hours and be part of an on-call rotation.
