We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with an emphasis on PSV design/revalidation to join our process engineering team working onsite at a refinery in Blaine, WA. This is a full-time role which offers competitive compensation and benefit packages. In this position, you will report to the Process Department Manager.
Compensation: $125,000 - $160,000 *Anticipated annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal peer equity. The pay range listed for this position is based on the anticipated base compensation at the time of the posting.
Work Arrangement: The schedule for this position will be a regular 5-8’s workweek with Monday through Thursday onsite and the option to work from home on Fridays.

Position Summary
This Senior Process Engineer position provides support to the refinery to help manage the existing PSV files/calculations and supporting new PSV design.
This position is a blend of being a PSV subject matter expert as well as an individual contributor. The expectation is that this position will be able to do all the required calculations to complete PSV files as well as provide consultation as a PSV subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of API 520/521 and API 2000.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply extensive and diversified knowledge of Chemical Engineering principles to complete assigned engineering tasks.
- Act as point of contact for the client with respect to assigned activities.
- Perform simple and complex hydraulic analysis to complete PSV sizing calculations with various software including, but not limited to HYSYS and Excel.
- Check PSV files completed by client engineers and engineering contractors to ensure compliance with client standards and API standards.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in process engineering, with demonstrated expertise in refinery operations, technical or maintenance, and expertise in process safety valve sizing calculations. SME level understanding of API 520, API 521 and API 2000
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Software: Proficient in the Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), AspenTech HYSYS
- Performance: A strong focus on action, a commitment to performance delivery, and an eye for accuracy and detail.
- Safety: Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues. Addresses those issues as necessary to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients, and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
- Collaboration: Ability to function comfortably and effectively in the roles of individual contributor, team player, or facilitator.
- Travel: Travel less than 10% of the time.
- Location: This position is based at a client site. Fridays may be work from home, with prior approval from the program manager.
- Industry Requirements: This role will require all or some of the following requirements at time of hire or during employment
- HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
- Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
- TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain. TWIC card must be obtained prior to start date or start date may need to be adjusted.
- Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
- Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.
- While performing duties of this job, you would occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear (this includes being able to hear and talk on site based communication equipment), distinguish between various colors, be able to hear safety tones/notifications, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, temperature or controls.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays and weekends.
- Job duties will be performed at a client site, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
