Role - Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & Cloud Automation)
Location - Manchester
Salary - £55,000


We are is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of Linux infrastructure and cloud automation across our managed service customer base. This is a hands-on, senior engineering role with real ownership and accountability, not a support desk position.


The Role

You'll be responsible for end-to-end Linux patching using Ansible, managing Azure Backup for Linux workloads, building infrastructure-as-code deployments with Bicep and ARM templates, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines through Azure DevOps. You'll also act as the escalation point for T1 engineers and play a key role in P1 major incident response as part of a 1-in-5 weekly on-call rota. On-call compensation is provided.


What We're Looking For

  • 5-7 years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience, ideally within an MSP or multi-customer environment
  • Strong Linux administration skills across RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Oracle Linux
  • Proven Ansible experience including playbook development, patching lifecycle management, and compliance reporting
  • Hands-on Azure proficiency covering Linux VM management, Azure Update Manager, Azure Backup, Key Vault, and networking
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep and/or ARM templates
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation
  • Solid Bash scripting skills for automation and maintenance tasks
  • Strong understanding of ITIL change management processes, including RFC preparation and CAB attendance
  • Experience with ServiceNow for ticket and change management


Required Qualifications

AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) or equivalent demonstrated Azure experience.
