Job Description
The Business Process Analyst partners closely with business stakeholders and user groups to understand current-state business processes, systems, and workflows. This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, identifying opportunities for process improvement or automation, and translating those needs into clear, detailed, and well-documented business requirements. The analyst acts as a key liaison between business teams and technical or delivery teams to ensure solutions align with business goals. The Business Process Analyst may also help develop effort estimates, support project planning activities, and contribute to governance or project management processes. Additionally, the role is responsible for identifying, tracking, and escalating risks, issues, and dependencies related to systems or projects to ensure timely resolution. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills are critical, as this role requires frequent interaction with business leaders, cross-functional teams, and project stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle.
Day to day:
- Partner with business and user group representatives to understand processes, workflows, and system needs
- Gather, analyze, document, and validate business requirements and functional specifications
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical and delivery teams
- Assist with prioritizing requirements based on business impact, value, cost, and urgency
- Support project planning activities, including effort estimation and resource coordination
- Identify, document, and track project or system risks, issues, and dependencies
- Participate in project governance, status reporting, and stakeholder communications
- Support change management, testing, and implementation activities as needed
- Ensure requirements are clearly communicated and understood throughout the project lifecycle
