The Role
You will lead the design and development of cloud based financial systems while remaining hands on with architecture and engineering.
- Design and build scalable, cloud native platforms supporting finance and risk functions
- Lead data consolidation initiatives across multiple business areas
- Develop unified data models to improve consistency, lineage, and governance
- Build backend services and APIs to support financial workflows and reporting
- Drive system modernisation and migration to AWS environments
- Partner with stakeholders in finance, accounting, and risk to translate requirements into solutions
- Mentor and support a small team of engineers while contributing technically
- Strengthen engineering practices, delivery processes, and system reliability
Your Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience in backend engineering using Java.
- Experience building scalable systems and designing robust architectures
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data platforms, ideally within financial or regulated environments
- Experience working with cloud technologies, particularly AWS
- Full stack exposure, including modern frontend frameworks and API development e.g. React
- Ability to lead and mentor engineers while remaining hands on
- Experience collaborating with non technical stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions
- Background in financial systems such as risk, accounting, or reporting is highly beneficial
