Over the past 12 months, we have built Fonio into the leading AI-powered phone provider in the DACH region. Now we’re scaling across Europe and revolutionizing how SMEs communicate with each other.
As a Founding Product Engineer, you’ll take end-to-end ownership: from the initial idea through the prototype to the finished feature used by thousands of companies across Europe.
Your Profile: Product Engineer through and through
Product Engineers at fonio have full ownership of the value they create for our customers. No one here tells you what to build—you define that yourself. At fonio, you’re a “Product Engineer,” not just a “Software Developer.”
Product Mindset: You take on responsibilities that go beyond simply writing code. You contribute ideas and measure your success by the value your software creates for our customers.
Customer Focus: You seek close interaction with customers and are able to gain meaningful insights from it.
Tech Stack: You are a Full Stack Software Developer with relevant experience working with Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, and React. Experience with LLM integration is a major plus.
Willingness to Experiment: You always seek concrete validation with minimal effort before building scalable software, and you get very creative in the process.
Pragmatism: You view software as a tool, not an end in itself. Your experience allows you to make informed decisions about how much effort your code deserves at each stage.
Native-level German: We are building an AI phone assistant and currently have a strong focus on the German-speaking market—a good understanding of the nuances of the German language is essential.
Your Responsibilities
Ongoing Research: You’ll work closely with customers, partners, and our sales team to gain a deep understanding of our customers’ pain points and how we can create value for them.
Product Discovery: You develop hypotheses and test them quickly and efficiently through experiments to make informed product decisions.
Tracking & Data: You will find or collect all the metrics relevant to your area of responsibility yourself, so that you are always able to make data-driven arguments and informed decisions.
Software Development: You build software end-to-end, from initial architectural decisions through to release, ensuring it fulfills the purpose for which it was built with the right balance of pragmatism and scalability.
