- Provides direction to designers and drafters in the creation and modification of engineering drawings and

- Manages projects, checks other engineers’ work, trains new employees, and communicates with customers when necessary;

- Works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and supporting functions to identify and address
- Responsible for new product development, manufacturing processes, and assembly methods; utilizes data to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process issues;
- Develops, writes, and coordinates Design Change Requests (DCR) and Manufacturing Change Requests
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including goals and evaluating results;
- Reformulates the development and testing processes to match with latest industry standards and makes

- Strength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial

- Work Environment – Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an
exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and
other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE;
- Emotional Demands –Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a
including experience in manufacturing, transportation, and/or machinery industries; hand tools experience; some engineering experience (mechanical/electrical)
Qualifications And Experience
Skill Level Progression:
- Engineer III – 0-2 years Exp/ 2-4 Years in grade – Works with Senior Engineers on singular
- Engineer II – 2-4 years Exp/ 2-4 Years in grade – Independent work, regularly check by Senior
- Engineer I – 4-8 years Exp/ 4-8 Years in grade – Creates and manages project plans;
- Competent in engineering design/CAD software; able to perform standard engineering design calculations
- Knowledge of diesel engines and engine components; locomotive engineering background preferred;
- Knowledge of applied mechanics, vibrations, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software; ability to accurately design, CAD and check a project with minimal
- Proficiency in computer programs relevant to assigned position, e.g., Matlab, PSIM, PLEX, NX Unigraphics,
and applications;
- Ability to read and understand specification and standards documents; proficient in interpreting and

- Strong familiarity with railstandards;
- Communication skills (both oral and written), multi-tasking, and organizationalskills;
- Strong attention to detail;strong problem solving, investigative and collaborative skills;
