Job Description
As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the Control Logix product and work closely with business, product, and engineering resources across multiple locations and business segments. You will be focused on the 1756 IO and Communications portfolio and its alignment with the broader Rockwell Automation software and hardware portfolio. You will require a strong emphasis on being able to gather, define and validate product's requirements with customers and other stakeholders and manage these product requirements through an agile development process. You will additionally be responsible for the product planning, promotion, and product life cycle management. You will direct the development of company market requirements for specific product(s) including product definition, requirements analysis, and pricing, monitor the development of business plans, managing lifecycles, and product positioning in the marketplace, reduce broad concepts and business strategies into structured product marketing plans, oversee market research, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs. You will report to Business Manager and will work Hybrid in Mayfield Heights, OH or Milwaukee, WI.
Primary Responsibilities
- Gather and effectively document customer / market requirements from different user types and global regions that lead to product features and capabilities with strong emphasis on delivering measurable customer usability, productivity benefits, and business value as per our company strategy.
- Take an ownership role in architecting the IO and Communications portfolio roadmap for ControlLogix, including collaboration with product management, advanced technology, and engineering teams.
- Manage requirements through an agile development process, while controlling any changes and effects on the product. When needed, recommend, and negotiate appropriate trade-offs with engineering resources based on priority management.
- Strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork with product managers / owners, and businesses to maximize the investments in the portfolio to maintain install base and yield maximum revenue.
- Drive strategic innovation and identify opportunities to create market differentiation and greater attachment opportunities for the portfolio.
- Act as a key representative of the business during development as the functional requirements are developed into a software feature, function or product that will be available to the market.
- Monitor competitive threats and evolving expectations within target automation markets and their impact on Rockwell Automation strategy.
- Support product promotion, new product introduction processes, and review of commercial campaigns.
- Provide strong leadership in the planning and execution of projects that involve cross-functional and cross-business teams.
- Champion innovation in product line by creating both product differentiation, attachment opportunities and increasing our company intellectual property portfolio, while being a thought leader.
- Convert voice-of-the-customer input and business needs into detailed product requirements and manage those through an agile development process.
- Challenger mind-set, who takes smart risks, and open to new ideas and ways of thinking.
- Team player who understands how to work with others and how to motivate the existing organization to stretch.
- Recognized by management and peers as an advisor on issues beyond assigned product line(s) and current business practices. This would include, but not limited to, a good understanding of Rockwell Automation technologies and their application.
- A good understanding of Rockwell Automation software development processes, policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct. Trains and motivates others in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Typically requires minimum of 8 years of related experience.
- Proven Industry experience in industrial automation products, control systems, or related hardware portfolios is preferred.
- Product management experience within the automation industry
- Formal training or demonstrated leadership influence.
- Ability to convert voice-of-the-customer input into detailed product requirements and manage those through the product development process.
- Applications Engineering experience is highly desired.
