Chicago, IL | $110,000–$130,000 salary + 20% bonus

About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a fast-growing international food importer and distributor with a large, loyal customer base and a deep portfolio of authentic global brands. They’re expanding quickly and investing heavily in growth—specifically, expanding beyond their strongest core demographic into broader mainstream shoppers across major retailers.
They’re hiring a Sr. National Account Manager to take ownership of key retail relationships and drive expansion within existing house accounts. This is a true “grow the business” seat—focused on expanding product footprint, increasing velocity, and winning incremental placements across big box and grocery retail. You’ll work closely with a mainstream-focused team, collaborate cross-functionally, and lead broker relationships to execute at the store level—without managing direct reports.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and grow assigned national and regional retail grocery accounts (house accounts provided).
- Expand product assortment and distribution within existing retailers—driving incremental SKUs, new item launches, and line extensions.
- Lead retailer meetings, business reviews, and JBP-style conversations to grow shelf presence and market share.
- Develop and execute account strategies to broaden consumer demographics and increase mainstream adoption.
- Negotiate pricing, promotions, and program agreements to maximize volume and profitability.
- Manage and direct broker partners to ensure strong in-store execution, merchandising, and promotional compliance.
- Partner with internal teams (marketing, supply chain, finance) to support account needs, forecasting, service levels, and launches.
- Track performance using sales data and reporting—identifying gaps, opportunities, and next steps for growth.
- Support trade spend, deductions, and promotional planning to protect margin and improve ROI.
- Represent the brand at key customer meetings, retailer events, and industry touchpoints as needed.
What They’re Looking For
- 5+ years of national/key account management experience with large retail accounts.
- Experience from food/CPG—international food background strongly preferred.
- Strong grocery + retail experience (foodservice experience not required).
- Proven experience working with and driving results through brokers.
- Track record of expanding product lines inside existing accounts (not just maintaining relationships).
- Confident communicator who’s outgoing, polished, and credible in front of retail buyers.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with sales reporting / account performance data.
- Willingness to travel overnight up to 2x/week for retailer meetings (expected to reduce over time, but must be comfortable).
