As an Account Executive, Small Group Employee Benefits, you will partner with small business clients (under 50 lives) to deliver tailored employee benefits solutions and ongoing service. You will manage and grow a portfolio of employee benefits clients through new sales, referrals, and retention. You serve as a trusted advisor, guiding clients through plan selection, enrollment, renewals, and ongoing service. This role is responsible for delivering an excellent client experience while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities & What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage a book of business, including an assigned portfolio and growing it through new self-produced business.
  • Establish and maintain internal centers of influence with Risk Advisors across the organization as a trusted Employee Benefits resource for shared clients.
  • Successfully meet established annual sales and retention goals.
  • Drive sales growth through outreach, referrals, rounding, cross-sell efforts, and lead follow-up.
  • Manage full client lifecycle, including plan design, quoting, proposals, compliance, enrollment, changes, renewals, and service.
  • Educate clients on plan options, networks, prescriptions, subsidies, and key enrollment deadlines.
  • Support service needs, i.e., billing, ID cards, escalations, coverage verification, and basic claims help.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation and activity within CRM/agency systems.
  • Partner with carriers and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure timely follow-through.
  • Track and manage pipeline activity, including quoting, conversions, retention, and revenue goals.
  • Deliver a strong client experience through responsive communication and proactive renewals.
  • Stay current on product changes, carrier requirements, compliance updates, and market trends.
  • Follow department and agency defined processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Utilize the agency management system for daily activities, documentation, and assigned tasks.
  • Participate in internal training sessions as well as carrier system training.
  • Review, update, and help develop processes and workflows as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with agency processes, confidentiality standards, and quality metrics.
  • Take on projects and other work as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through internal learning and training.
  • Effectively use MS Office, standard office applications, and other technologies.
  • Skillfully use AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to aid work and efficiency.
  • Work effectively with all team members, provide backup support, and contribute to team collaboration.
  • Demonstrate alignment with our purpose, values, and culture.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities, You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience selling and servicing employee benefits for small business clients within an insurance agency environment.
  • Strong knowledge with employee benefits carriers, marketplace, and compliance.
  • Life & Health license in good standing required.
  • Background in employee benefits underwriting a plus.
  • College Degree Preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
  • Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to simplify and recommend appropriate coverages.
  • Excellent service skills, delivering support with empathy, professionalism, and a client-first approach.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows while balancing sales and service priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in applications, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust quickly and explain coverage confidently.
  • Organized and self-directed, able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent pipeline activity.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, accountable, and willing to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Growth mindset with commitment to continuous learning, product knowledge, and improving sales/service effectiveness.
  • Stay relevant/ahead on industry insights and employee benefits marketplace.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills, with experience working in agency management systems, benefits administration tools, and carrier platforms.
  • Proficiency with AI tools, AI assisted workflows, and ability to learn new/future technologies and tools.
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional development.

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this position ranges from $63,000 - $120,600. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The hiring range represents the Company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifying positions will also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, such as participation in family medical and dental insurance programs, 401K plan, PTO, licensing, and continuing education reimbursement.

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without Company sponsorship.
