Temporary 6-Month Contract Position with Potential for Long-Term Partnership

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and strategic Lead Designer to drive design and product innovation for our core business: children’s sleepwear and apparel (including swimwear), with complementary matching family loungewear.

This role is design-first, with a strong emphasis on creating original prints, patterns, and products for babies and children, while extending collections across men’s and women’s styles. If a long term relationship is established, this person will also lead product innovation, seasonal development, and category expansion from concept through production.

The ideal candidate combines strong creative instincts with a strategic mindset—someone who not only designs compelling products but also identifies what to create next to grow the brand.

Core Responsibilities

Design Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Create original prints, patterns, and product designs aligned with the brand vision
  • Develop seasonal collections that are fresh, cohesive, and commercially strong
  • Ensure all designs meet children’s apparel standards for fit, construction, and safety

Development & Production Execution

  • Prepare detailed tech packs and specifications for factories
  • Manage communication with overseas manufacturers on design, sizing, materials, and timelines
  • Oversee sampling from prototype to final approval and ensure production accuracy
  • Additional design responsibilities include preparing labeling and packaging, making sure all required information is accurate
  • Troubleshoot production challenges and implement solutions

Brand Ownership & Collaboration

  • Protect and manage proprietary prints and design assets
  • Partner with marketing and content teams to align product launches and campaigns
  • Ensure timely readiness of product and visual assets for all channels

Long Term

  • Identify and develop new product categories, collections, and assortment expansions
  • Improve existing products through enhancements in fit, materials, and functionality
  • Build and manage a forward-looking seasonal product roadmap

Qualifications

  • Strong background in children’s apparel, textile, or print design
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience working with overseas factories and product development cycles
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker who proactively brings new ideas and product direction
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field preferred
  • Passion for building and evolving a long-term brand
