Position and Role
The Associate Portfolio Chief of Staff position is designed to help candidates bridge experiences in management consulting, ‘real-world’ operations, and private equity before (most typically) enrolling in business school. Approximately 80% of this person’s time will be spent supporting the firm’s portfolio companies, and the remaining ~20% will be spent supporting the firm’s leadership team on a variety of strategic, special projects. This role reports to Tim Schulte (Partner, focused on portfolio value creation).
Responsibilities
- Partner with portfolio companies to execute consulting-type projects across all business functions (e.g., go-to-market redesign, pricing strategy, M&A integration, new product launch, etc.)
- Develop and implement scalable toolkits, resources, and best practices across portfolio companies (e.g., new company onboarding toolkit, annual budgeting resources, etc.)
- Partner with deal teams to provide visibility and support into managing the investment (e.g., financial and operational reporting, strategic analyses, etc.)
- Support portfolio/company Boards to ensure corporate governance best practices are in place (e.g., development of board meeting materials, board committee management, etc.)
- Build internal capabilities to scale the firm (e.g., oversight of preferred partner network, annual investor meeting planning, etc.)
- 1-3 years of experience at a top management consulting firm is strongly preferred; strategy & operations role at a fast-growing healthcare company will be considered
- Ability to bring structure to large, complex problems and create processes for solving them
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects while operating independently
- Balances intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence, work ethic, humility, and curiosity
- Develops authentic relationships with colleagues and partners

Travel: The ability to travel up to 25% of the time is important
