The Opportunity
As a Substation Service Technician at Hitachi Energy, this role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Hitachi products and systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
How you will make an impact
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on a variety of Hitachi equipment and systems.
- Test and maintain all relays (protection, signaling), instruments (metering and transducers), contactors for proper functional operations
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components at substation, ensuring adherence to Hitachi's quality standards and safety protocols.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers, explaining technical concepts clearly and courteously.
- Document all service activities, including repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used, accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to provide feedback on product performance and customer needs.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with Hitachi product advancements.
Your Background
- Associate's degree in electrical or technical diploma
- 2+ years of experience as a Service Technician or in a similar technical support role
- Have experience in protection relay maintenance and testing.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
- Experience using hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment
- Solid computer skills, including familiarity with diagnostic software and service management systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Willingness to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting equipment and working in varied environments
- Flexibility to travel to customer sites as needed
