A Project Engineer in the Transportation & Mobility Department steps into a role where technical expertise meets city-shaping impact. Beyond these specialty areas, the role includes hands-on project management responsibilities. You’ll shepherd projects from concept through delivery, coordinating schedules, budgets, and stakeholders to keep everything moving smoothly. What You'll Do
The following duties are a sample of major duties performed in this role and not intended to be an
exhaustive list.
- Conducting plan review of Engineering Department developed plans to ensure consistency in connectivity, signing, and marking.
- Project management responsibilities for various project needs of the Transportation and Mobility Department.
- Ownership of the Bike Program – implementing improvements to Bend's bike network through smaller quick build solutions to close gaps in the system.
- Ownership of the Bridge Asset Management program, including annual review of Bend's bridges to ensure they are maintained for years to come.
- Developing and administrating approved project budgets.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to establish priorities and coordinate work.

Minimum Qualifications
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in this job description.
- Experience: 4 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position and/or performing similar tasks.
- Certification as a Professional Engineer in the State of Oregon required, or acquire within six months of appointment.
- Current and valid Driver's license per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Experience in multimodal project or program management
initial review and consideration for interview; however, the position will remain open until filled.
