Essential Job Functions
Recruitment and Outreach:
- Actively promote the College of Engineering and EPI to prospective graduate students through targeted recruitment efforts, including travel to Lamar University’s recruitment zones.
- Represent the College at recruitment fairs, high-impact events, and on-campus tours, serving as an enthusiastic ambassador for engineering programs.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with feeder institutions, professional organizations, and industry stakeholders to identify potential students.
- Provide personalized pre-admission advisement to prospective students, including assistance with application processes, program selection, and matriculation.
- Serve as a point of contact for inquiries, offering clear and accurate information about graduate degree programs and admission requirements.
- Provide exceptional service to all prospective and current students, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally to facilitate a positive experience.
- Collaborate with the College’s marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns that highlight the unique aspects of engineering programs.
- Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to highlight opportunities within the College.
- Manage follow-up communication with prospective students, ensuring timely and meaningful engagement.
- Plan, organize, and participate in recruitment events, open houses, and College-sponsored activities aimed at promoting engineering programs.
- Set up and manage recruitment materials and displays, ensuring a professional and compelling presence at all events.
- Track and report on recruitment activities, enrollment trends, and student engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospective student interactions in the university's CRM system.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree OR a combination of college credit and applicable higher education experience may be substituted while actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in higher education, student recruitment, or a related field.
- Experience working with international student populations, including knowledge of recruitment processes and key considerations related to global student engagement.
- Familiarity with college recruitment processes, including student outreach, enrollment, and retention.
- Proficiency in using technology systems such as Banner, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems (e.g., Slate), and Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on PowerPoint, Excel, and database management.
- Experience with scheduling tools, electronic calendar management, and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams).

- Proven ability to deliver professional, courteous customer service while meeting the needs of students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
- High level of discretion and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Proficiency in advising and counseling to provide effective support to prospective and current students.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs., including reams of paper, tables, banners, and recruitment materials.
- Set up and tear down materials for recruitment events, requiring bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Stand and walk for extended periods during events and campus activities.
- Traverse campus terrain and buildings as needed for visits and camps.
- Standard hours: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- On-campus position requiring attendance at mandatory College of Engineering and EPI events, which may fall outside regular hours.
- Extensive travel within recruitment zones; reliable personal vehicle required.
- 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
