Role: Business Analyst

Location: CALGARY, AB

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

Effectively collect, document and steward business requirements to:

- Deliver key business analysis artifacts, using best practices and tools, for the design and development gap analysis

- Identify scope, benefits, constraints, and risks

- Work with the business to understand and outline the business and process areas that have opportunities and constraints

- Understand the current standards, policies and procedures and, in the context of those, the implications of any recommendations

- Perform detailed analysis of business problems for use in the solution design

- Identify where system use and data flows are not aligned with existing process

- Document and diagram the existing environment and data-flows

- Provide expertise to Program and Project Managers in the design, planning and governance of business processes

- Facilitate sessions with stakeholders to drive out requirements

- Gather non-functional requirements such as security, capacity performance and availability, from the business

- Act as a liaison between business and technical resources

- Other project activities as assigned

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Degree, diploma or certification in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Analysis or related discipline.

- Minimum of 10 years’ experience doing business analysis

- Ability to express complex project concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences

- Strong facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and mentoring skills

- Very strong verbal and written communication skills including presentations

- Knowledge of Business Analysis best practices.

- Strong customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members, stakeholders and management.

- Ability to translate requirements into processes and controls

- Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of the organization through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes.

- IT methodology and/or process implementation background.
