About The Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Revenue Accounting Specialist reporting to the Controller to support the financial operations of the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the affiliated organizations.

The Revenue Accounting Specialist will support revenue accounting operations across the organization and its affiliated entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial data in a multi-entity nonprofit environment. This role is responsible for day-to-day revenue processes, including invoicing, accounts receivable, reconciliation, and revenue tracking.

A strong candidate for this role is detail-oriented, organized, and reliable, with the ability to manage responsibilities with limited supervision. They are comfortable working with data, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating across teams in a dynamic and evolving nonprofit environment.

Work Environment

We embrace a hybrid work model that values collaboration and autonomy. This position requires consistent in-person presence, three days per week in our downtown Seattle office, as well as on-site or in-field work for events and meetings. One day per week may be remote for Washington State residents. Occasional regional travel, early mornings, evenings, and weekend commitments are required.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage billing and invoicing for memberships, programs, sponsorships, and events, ensuring accuracy and alignment with contracts and internal data
  • Apply and track incoming payments (ACH, credit card, checks), ensuring timely and accurate cash application within the accounting system
  • Monitor accounts receivable activity and aging, and support follow-ups with internal teams to resolve outstanding balances
  • Reconcile revenue data across operational and accounting systems, identify discrepancies, and take action to resolve issues
  • Track deferred revenue and support revenue recognition in alignment with accounting standards and contractual terms
  • Support revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., membership, events, programs) to ensure accurate data flow and timely financial reporting

What Makes You a Strong Candidate

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to revenue or accounts receivable
  • Experience with billing, cash application, and reconciliation processes
  • Working knowledge of accrual accounting and U.S. GAAP principles
  • Executes accounting work with accuracy and consistency, works independently as a subject matter expert
  • Experience working across systems and reconciling data from multiple sources
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving nonprofit environment

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, or equivalent depth of experience, with responsibility for general ledger accuracy and month-end close
  • Progressive experience in general accounting, including independent responsibility for journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including accrual accounting and deferred revenue
  • Known for reliability, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Organized and process-minded, with the ability to work autonomously
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to team success
  • Experience in a multi-entity, nonprofit, association, or similarly complex operating environment preferred

Employment Details
