Assistant Project Manager
Temp-to-Hire
Onsite – NE Portland | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
$30–$32/hour DOE
We are partnering with a full-service manufacturing and construction organization specializing in custom retail environments, architectural millwork, and ornamental metal fabrication to add an Assistant Project Manager to their team.
This role provides direct support to the Project Manager and requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is proactive, reliable, highly organized, and demonstrates strong communication skills, computer proficiency, and a commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Support planning and analysis of conceptual design and preconstruction activities
- Review and interpret design details, ensuring accuracy across proposal drawings and production shop drawings
- Identify materials required for procurement and prepare material requisitions as needed
- Assist in soliciting RFQs for outside services and support the creation of subcontracts and purchase orders
- Track and review potential project changes impacting budget and/or schedule
- Maintain and follow up on project open item/issue lists
- Support project close-out activities through successful completion
- Prepare documentation for issue analysis and internal/external review
- Document or lead project meetings as assigned
- Execute special projects as needed
- Independently manage small or repeat client accounts as directed
- Uphold a high standard of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in project coordination, assistant project management, or construction/manufacturing support role
- Experience in architectural millwork, custom fabrication, retail buildouts, or construction environments strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, submittals, and technical project documentation
- Familiarity with project management processes including RFQs, purchase orders, and subcontract coordination
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general project management or ERP systems preferred
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and discretion in handling project information
