JOB OBJECTIVES As a Senior Accountant you will lead complex accounting activities, oversee critical close processes, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting. This role is ideal for a highly skilled accounting professional who demonstrates strong technical knowledge, exercises sound judgment, and provides guidance to staff while maintaining hands‑on responsibility for key areas. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month‑end close, complex reconciliations, accruals, and account analysis, while also supporting continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and systems. This position serves as a technical resource within the accounting team and works closely with the Accounting Manager on close execution, issue resolution, and process optimization, including within Dynamics 365 Business Central.

What You Will Be Doing (essential Job Functions)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Advanced Accounting and General Ledger Oversight

  • Own and manage complex general ledger accounts and reconciliations, including higher‑risk or judgmental areas
  • Perform detailed account analysis, investigate variances, and ensure balances are complete and accurate
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded in accordance with accrual accounting and company policies
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve complex accounting issues and discrepancies

Month‑End Close Leadership

  • Lead assigned components of the month‑end close process and ensure timely completion of deliverables
  • Prepare and review journal entries for accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and adjustments
  • Review reconciliations and journal entries prepared by junior and staff accountants
  • Work closely with the Accounting Manager to identify and resolve close issues and bottlenecks

Bank, Cash, and Balance Sheet Reconciliations

  • Oversee and review monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Resolve complex reconciling items and ensure consistent reconciliation standards across the team
  • Analyze trends and recurring issues to recommend process improvements or control enhancements

Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement

  • Serve as a subject‑matter resource for Dynamics 365 Business Central related to accounting and close processes
  • Participate in system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and data integrity initiatives
  • Develop, refine, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls

Audit, Reporting, and Cross‑Functional Support

  • Serve as a primary accounting contact for internal and external audit requests
  • Prepare and review audit support schedules and provide explanations for account activity
  • Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and special projects as assigned
  • Support cross‑functional teams by providing accounting guidance and insights

Mentorship and Team Support

  • Provide guidance, review, and coaching to junior and staff accountants
  • Promote best practices in reconciliations, documentation, and close execution
  • Help elevate overall team performance and accounting discipline

Education/Expertise

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong expertise in general ledger accounting, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Proven experience leading portions of the month end close process
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and analytical modeling
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experience with an ERP system, preferably Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience supporting audits and working with auditors
  • Prior involvement in accounting process improvements or internal control enhancements
  • Public accounting experience a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
