Grid Technology Technical Marketing Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Solution & Grid Integration

  • Lead technical discussions regarding the integration of BESS and PV Inverters into national electrical networks.
  • Plan and design complex power systems with high penetration of renewable energy, ensuring compliance with local Grid Codes and international standards.
  • Provide innovative solutions for grid connection challenges, ensuring stability and reliability for utility-scale projects.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of grid support technologies for BESS and PV inverters, specifically focusing on Grid Forming applications (Virtual Synchronous Machine, Black Start, Inertia Support) in weak grids.

2. Simulation & Analysis (Leadership & Supervision)

  • Supervise and lead the technical team in conducting advanced RMS and EMT power system simulations to validate system performance and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Oversee the utilization of industry-standard software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, and MATLAB.
  • Guide the team in performing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and validation using RTDS and/or RT-Lab to verify control strategies before deployment.
  • Note: While this is a leadership function, candidates with hands-on experience in conducting these simulations personally are highly preferred.

3. Technical Marketing & Business Support

  • Act as the technical bridge between R&D and the market; translate complex technical specifications into compelling value propositions for customers.
  • Support the sales team by presenting technical feasibility studies and solution benefits to high-level stakeholders (TSOs, DSOs, Developers, and Regulators).
  • Identify market trends and customer pain points to propose innovative product applications and system solutions.

4. Continuous Improvement & Team Support

  • Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the team, supporting colleagues with technical problem-solving.
  • Maintain a "self-learner" mindset, constantly updating knowledge on emerging grid technologies and market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with global teams to share knowledge and standardize best practices.


Qualifications & Requirements

1. Education:

  • Minimum: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (specializing in Electrical Power Systems).
  • Preferred: PhD in Power Systems, Control Engineering or equivalent (including renewable energy).

2. Technical Experience:

  • PCS Control Strategy: In-depth knowledge of the operation and advanced control algorithms/strategies of Power Conversion Systems (PCS).
  • Grid Support & Grid Forming: Deep understanding of BESS and PV Inverter grid support functions, with specific expertise in Grid Forming technology and its application in national systems.
  • Battery Technology: Solid knowledge of battery cell technology, degradation characteristics, and system sizing calculations.
  • Simulation Leadership: Proven ability to supervise simulation tasks. Hands-on proficiency in PSCAD, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or MATLAB/Simulink is highly preferred.
  • HIL Testing: Experience guiding or performing Real-Time Digital Simulators (RTDS) or RT-Lab testing is preferred.

3. Industry Background & Mindset:

  • Project Delivery: Proven experience in successful project delivery, combined with a project development mindset—understanding the commercial and timeline implications of technical decisions.
  • Utility Experience: Experience working within or for Electricity Utilities (TSO/DSO) is highly preferred.
  • Implementation: Practical experience in the actual implementation/commissioning of BESS and PV projects is a strong plus.

4. Soft Skills & Attributes:

  • Hybrid Mindset: Technically sound but genuinely enthusiastic about performing in a Sales and Marketing capacity.
  • Leadership: Ability to supervise technical tasks and mentor team members while maintaining high quality standards.

  • Agility: Flexible and adaptable; willing to learn new skills and embrace new ideas in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team and present to global clients.
