Position Overview
We are seeking an Account Manager to support and grow our sales presence in the telecom and fiber optic markets. This role focuses on managing accounts, driving inside sales efforts, developing new business opportunities, and collaborating with technical and operations teams to deliver fiber solutions that meet customer needs. The Associate Sales Manager will help meet revenue targets, maintain strong client relationships, and provide technical-informed sales support for fiber and telecom products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts through regular contact, relationship-building, and proactive service to ensure retention and identify upsell opportunities.
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities in the telecom and fiber optic markets through targeted outreach, inside sales activities, and qualified lead follow-up.
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customers, coordinating responses to technical and commercial inquiries and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Prepare and present proposals, quotes, and contract terms that align customer needs with company offerings; collaborate with pricing, legal, and operations teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline, forecasts, and activity records in the CRM system; provide regular reporting to Sales Management.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, and operations teams to ensure feasible solutions, accurate lead times, and successful customer deployments for fiber network projects.
- Conduct product and solution demonstrations to customers and internal stakeholders, translating technical fiber concepts into clear business value.
- Negotiate contract terms and close deals while ensuring compliance with company policies and profitability targets.
- Participate in trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events as needed to raise the company profile and generate demand.
- Provide coaching and guidance to junior sales staff or account coordinators as required and support continuous improvement of sales processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of sales experience in telecom, fiber optic, or related technical industry, including account management and inside sales.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fiber optic technology, network architectures, and common telecom services and solutions.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets, managing pipelines, and closing deals in a B2B environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to translate technical details into customer-focused benefits.
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events as required; valid drivers license.
- Preferred: certifications or training in fiber optic technologies (e.g., FOA, BICSI) or prior experience working closely with engineering and deployment teams.
