Position Title: Business Development Manager – Maritime / Cruise Growth Role

The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in driving customer engagement and account growth. This position involves managing smaller customer accounts, overseeing the quoting process, onboarding new clients, and delivering insightful reporting and analysis on existing accounts. Initially structured as a hybrid role, the individual will also handle administrative and marketing tasks for the first 3 to 6 months before transitioning to a dedicated account management position. The ideal candidate will bring a strong operational and commercial background, with a focus on strategic account management. Challenges may arise in balancing account management with administrative duties, making effective communication essential for success.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities

  • Pursuing and onboarding smaller customer accounts, including making introductions, meeting with customers, handling quoting and RFQs, and following up on actions/items
  • Working on the handover of new customers to the operations team
  • Providing reporting and analysis on the accounts managed
  • Supporting marketing efforts during the initial hybrid phase
  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings during the hybrid period

Business Development Manager Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of direct key account management experience
  • Minimum 10 years of overall industry experience in freight forwarding, cruise/marine, or hospitality
  • Cruise industry logistics and project management experience required
  • Strong operational and commercial background
  • Ability to manage both strategic account management and some administrative/marketing tasks initially
  • 15+ years of total relevant experience is preferred
  • Existing relationships and experience working with cruise line customers are preferred
  • Proficiency with Cargo-Wise or similar logistics/freight forwarding software is preferred
  • Bilingual language skills, though not required, are preferred
  • Willingness to travel to meet with key customers, as needed, is preferred
