L2 Backup/Storage Engineer

Experience: 6–10 Years

Location: Dubai

Job Responsibilities

• Handle escalated backup and storage issues from L1 teams.
• Monitor backup jobs, schedules, and storage system performance.
• Troubleshoot failed backup jobs and storage connectivity issues.
• Manage SAN, NAS, and DAS storage environments.
• Perform firmware updates, patching, and system health checks.
• Optimize backup policies and storage configurations.
• Support disaster recovery testing and data recovery activities.
• Maintain documentation, incident reports, and utilization reports.
• Coordinate with L3 teams, vendors, and hardware providers.

Required Skills & Technologies

• Experience with enterprise backup tools: Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Commvault.
• Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and data protection processes.
• Hands-on experience with storage technologies: SAN, NAS, DAS.
• Experience with Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE storage systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Nagios.
• Knowledge of VMware and Hyper-V integration with storage systems.
• Experience using ServiceNow or Jira ticketing systems.

Preferred Certifications

• Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS)
• NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)

Soft Skills

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good communication and stakeholder coordination
• Ability to work in fast-paced enterprise environments
