Description
Under direct supervision, functions as a system administrator engaged in supporting hardware and operating system software; operates complex systems or subsystems.
- Under direct supervision, maintains integrity and security of the operating system environment.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to hardware and operating system software; maintains in accordance with established information technology policies and procedures.
- Performs server administration setup.
- Coordinates disk space planning and management.
- Performs data backups and recoveries.
- Supports media management through internal methods and procedures and use of offsite storage and retrieval services.
- Provides recommendations regarding hardware and system software planning and budgeting.
- Participates in change control.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
1-3 years of web server experience managing LAMP stacks, Drupal, and WordPress in a secure environment.
Proven experience with security hardening techniques including firewall management, SELinux, and patch automation.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a high-uptime research environment.
Education Will Be Considered In Lieu Of Experience.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
