Essential Tasks:
- Work with Producer to review copies of policies and applications, discussing accounts, market options, coverages, pricing and marketing strategies.
- Prepare a complete and thorough submission on prospective new business accounts including company specific applications via FormPro or Epic custom forms, loss summaries, driver lists, and any other pertinent data.
- Assist Producers in gathering information to obtain quotes for new business, when necessary.
- Submit accounts to insurance companies, negotiating the pricing and coverages, and reviewing underwriting questions with Producers and/or prospective/existing clients.
- Prepare accurate, thorough and professional insurance proposals and discuss with Producers any recommendations or options that should be presented.
- Calculate rate exposures for those insurance companies that are willing to share rating information with our agency.
- Summarize losses for analysis at various deductible or retention levels.
- Have a working knowledge of loss sensitive rating plans to include Deductible Plans, Retention Plans and Retrospective Rated Plans.
- Review all proposals for accuracy before presenting.
- Keep insurance companies informed of outcome of submissions in a timely manner.
- Continually develop marketing relationships with companies that can best serve our clients.
- Once account is written, order all policies from the companies by confirming final pricing, account details and any changes to final quote.
- Ensure all account details are updated in Epic, produce binders on new business when necessary, issue certificates of insurance, issue auto ID cards, prepare reporting forms, and prepare any other detail requested by the Producer for a new business client. After all steps have been completed for new business, transfer the account to the assigned Account Manager for servicing, and transfer outstanding activities to the newly assigned Account Manager (i.e. waiting for policy issuance, invoicing, check policies, etc.).
- Maintain current, sound documentation of all pertinent business-related activities and communications regarding clients’ account while following agency procedures and guidelines for the same, to ensure protection and security of sensitive client data and to document reasons for all changes and actions taken that impact the clients’ account.
- Assist in training other employees at management’s request.

- 5+ years of Commercial Insurance experience
- In-depth knowledge of commercial lines coverages and markets, specifically in transportation
- Active General Lines or Property & Casualty License required
- Professional Insurance Designations – CIC, CPCU, etc.
- Transportation specific designations preferred - TRIP, STAR, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptable
