Strategic Technology Advisor (STA/vCIO)

Location: Brookfield, WI

Work Model: Primarily in-office with flexibility (typically 1 day/week WFH)

Travel: Local client meetings (generally within ~2 hours of Milwaukee/Madison)

At CTaccess, the Strategic Technology Advisor (often called a vCIO) is a client-facing advisory role. You’ll work directly with business owners and leadership teams to help them make intentional technology decisions—balancing risk, priorities, and budget—while our engineering teams handle the technical execution.

This is not an engineering role. It’s a role for someone who builds trust, runs effective meetings, and translates complexity into clear decisions and next steps.


What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary advisor and relationship owner for assigned clients
  • Lead strategic planning conversations (QBRs or equivalent), right-sized to each client
  • Maintain clarity and continuity in technology planning (formal or informal)
  • Guide budget and investment discussions so decisions are intentional, not reactive
  • Translate technical input into clear, business-focused recommendations
  • Coordinate internally to ensure quotes, projects, and follow-through align with agreed plans

You are not “just a coordinator”—you are the strategic quarterback for your clients.


This role is a great fit if you come from backgrounds like:

  • Project or program management
  • Client success or account leadership
  • Consultative or technical sales
  • Business or operations consulting

You don’t need to be senior by title, but you must be comfortable speaking with executives as a peer.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience
  • Experience consulting with organizations and presenting ideas or recommendations to executive leadership
  • Comfort learning and discussing technology concepts at a business level (formal IT experience not required)
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Demonstrated advisory, client-facing, or consultative experience

A genuine interest in helping organizations succeed through thoughtful, well-planned use of technology

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive compensation based on experience, plus benefits and flexibility. We’re happy to discuss details early in the process. Salary Range - $80,000-$110,000/year
