Position Summary

The Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for leading all revenue‑generation strategies for the Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport, an upscale, full‑service, all‑suite hotel with approximately 150 two‑room suites and 1,200+ square feet of dedicated meeting space across four meeting rooms accommodating up to ~120 attendees. Located roughly 3 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, the hotel supports a balanced mix of corporate, airline, government, and group business, with strong demand for small‑ to mid‑size corporate meetings, trainings, and group blocks. This role requires a hands‑on sales leader with proven success in corporate and group sales, local account development, and team leadership, leveraging Embassy Suites brand drivers such as complimentary breakfast, evening reception, and full‑service amenities to maximize RevPAR, group pace, and market share within a competitive airport‑driven environment.

While the Director of Sales reports directly to the General Manager, the Regional Sales and Marketing Manager will interface and assist in the direction of the Sales and Marketing function at the property.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies for property, including targeted market segments, rate management, solicitation procedures and advertising.
  • Develop a realistic annual marketing plan, forecast with monthly reviews to update and modify as required by market conditions.
  • Emphasize control procedures and yield management to assure a proper balance of rate availability to market demand.
  • Establish and executive an effective outside sales program.
  • Direct internal servicing of groups.
  • Act in concert with hotel management team and property General Manager.
  • Train all sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable to actionable results.
  • Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow associates.
  • Practice a culture of guest service in all you do; promote courtesy, good will and a positive attitude in each and every encounter.
  • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by General Manager.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • 3 years proven hotel sales experience, demonstrating proven creative thinking and results driven leadership skills
  • High work ethic and self-initiative
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite
  • Some travel may be required
  • Regular attendance according to established guidelines
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property
  • Must possess basic computational ability
  • Focus and maintain attention to tasks, and complete work assignments on time despite frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and maintain staff and guest confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to participate in, and at times lead departmental and/or hotel team meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in corporate, group, and SMERF sales for a full‑service, all‑suite hotel environment
  • Strong understanding of airport‑driven demand, including airline, government, and negotiated corporate accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to drive group business utilizing on‑site meeting space (small‑ to mid‑size meetings, trainings, and group blocks up to ~120 attendees)
  • Advanced knowledge of Hilton brand standards, Embassy Suites value proposition, and brand‑driven revenue opportunities
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, pacing, and budget management to maximize RevPAR, ADR, and group contribution
  • Hands‑on experience with local account development, prospecting, and relationship management
  • Strong collaboration skills partnering with Revenue Management, Operations, and the GM to execute sales strategies
  • Ability to analyze market trends, conduct competitive analysis, and adjust strategies in a highly competitive airport market
  • Effective leader with experience coaching and motivating a sales team, while remaining personally engaged in key accounts
  • Skilled in leveraging CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and performance metrics to track results and drive accountability
