Software Engineer II - Catalog & Inventory Platform

Aarhus, Denmark

Uber Eats is evolving. We're expanding beyond food delivery into a platform for delivering what people need, whether that's groceries, pharmacy items, or retail goods. At the heart of this shift is INCA (Inventory & Catalog): the system that ingests, enriches, and normalizes merchant inventory data and serves it reliably across Uber's global systems.

We're looking for a Software Engineer in Aarhus who wants to grow with this platform and contribute to how we store, update, and publish catalog and inventory information around the world for Uber Eats.

To understand the platform you'll work on and the challenges we're solving, start here:

What You Will Do

As part of the Catalog & Inventory team, your work will help shape how Uber's delivery platform scales, adapts, and expands into new categories. The services you contribute to will help:

- Serve everyone's shopping needs, from small convenience stores to large supermarkets, with consistent, accurate catalog and inventory data.
- Make it easier for new merchants and business verticals to connect their inventory with our systems.
- Keep inventory and catalog data accurate and fresh in real time, even under heavy load.
- Support the reliability and extensibility of Uber's delivery platform as it grows into new categories.

You will:

- Implement backend services in Go that support catalog and inventory workflows across Uber's marketplace.
- Build and maintain reliable systems that handle real-time updates and ingestion workloads at scale.
- Work with cross-functional teams, engineering, merchant integrations, search, fulfillment, and product - to create aligned APIs and data models.
- Write high-quality code with a focus on clean implementation, good test coverage, and operational confidence.
- Participate in design discussions and contribute practical technical ideas with guidance from more senior engineers.
- Improve team practices around monitoring, documentation, and operational processes as you grow in your role.

Basic Qualifications

Required

- 4+ years building backend services at scale.
- Experience coding with Go, C++, Java, or Python.
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
- Ability to turn business problems into effective technical designs.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating on solutions.

Nice to Have

- Experience with large catalog, search, or metadata platforms.
- Experience with distributed systems.
- Familiarity with distributed data stores, caches, and publish/subscribe systems.
- Background in e-commerce, retail platforms, or content management systems.
- Contributions to open-source projects or public technical discussions.

What We Offer

- Collaborate with exceptional engineering talent in Aarhus and across Uber's global engineering teams.
- Ownership over core platform services that run in production globally.
- A collaborative engineering culture where learning, design reviews, and documentation are encouraged.
- A local engineering hub in Aarhus with opportunities for global collaboration.
- Support for technical growth and opportunities to take on increasing responsibility.
- Flexible work policies and a healthy work/life balance.
