Senior Windows Infrastructure Architect (m/f/d) | Remote | Long-Term Contract


Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Windows Infrastructure Architect to design and document secure, scalable Windows infrastructures across complex enterprise environments, with a focus on architecture design, automation, security hardening, and operational transition.


Project Details

Duration: 31 months (01.06.2026 – 31.12.2028)

Workload: Full-time (5 days/week)

Location: Remote (95%) | Munich (5%)


Responsibilities

  • Design and document enterprise Windows architectures across multiple projects
  • Develop and enhance Windows Server infrastructure concepts based on reference architectures
  • Identify automation potential and implement deployment, update, and monitoring automation
  • Design secure Windows operating concepts including access control and hardening standards
  • Create technical documentation, architecture concepts, and operational handover materials
  • Integrate new and enhanced architecture components into release and patch management processes
  • Analyze and optimize Managed OS workflows for efficiency and technical feasibility
  • Model architecture and process changes in ARIS / Alfabet
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for future integration into managed OS services
  • Support the transition of new and existing solutions into production operations


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Windows Infrastructure Architect / Senior Windows Engineer in enterprise environments
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server (2016+) including Core variants and georedundant topologies
  • Hands-on automation experience with PowerShell and Ansible
  • Experience with BSI Grundschutz or comparable IT security standards
  • Strong documentation and architecture modeling skills (ARIS / Alfabet preferred)
  • Knowledge of CMDBs, Incident / Change / Release Management processes
  • Experience with Active Directory integration, Kerberos, NTLM, host-based firewalls, and CIS hardening
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based Windows Server services and datacenter architecture
  • Performance optimization and troubleshooting expertise in large-scale Windows environments
  • German (C1) and English (B1+) required
