Account Manager (Accounting Firm)

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and oversee our clients’s Accounting Services function, ensuring effective management of the department, delivery excellence and strong client relationships.

The successful candidate will oversee accounting service operations, manage a portfolio of clients, support business development initiatives and contribute to the growth and scalability of the practice.

This role is suited for a hands-on and commercially aware leader who combines technical accounting strength, people leadership and strong client engagement capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Department Leadership & Operational Management

• Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Services department.

• Manage service delivery across accounting, bookkeeping, reporting and related client assignments.

• Ensure timely, accurate and high-quality delivery of services across the department.

• Support resource planning, workflow management and departmental performance optimisation.

2. Client Relationship Management

• Manage and develop strong relationships across a portfolio of clients.

• Serve as a key point of contact and trusted advisor for clients on accounting and business support matters.

• Ensure high service standards and client satisfaction through responsive and relationship-driven engagement.

• Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand service support.

3. Business Development & Practice Growth

• Support growth of the accounting practice through business development and client referral activities.

• Identify opportunities for cross-selling and expansion of services across the client base.

• Participate in networking, proposal support and market development initiatives.

• Contribute to revenue growth and development of the practice.

4. Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead, mentor and develop team members across the department.

• Support recruitment, coaching and succession development as the practice expands.

• Foster a collaborative, service-oriented and high-performance team culture.

• Drive continuous capability building and process discipline within the function.

5. Process Improvement, Quality & Governance

• Ensure sound accounting practices, internal controls and professional standards are maintained.

• Drive improvements in processes, efficiency and service delivery models.

• Support digitalisation and operational enhancements to support scale and growth.

• Contribute to departmental policies, quality controls and practice improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.

• Professional qualification such as ACCA, MICPA, CPA Australia or equivalent preferred.

• Membership with Malaysian Institute of Accountants preferred.

Experience

• 6–10+ years of accounting or professional practice experience, preferably within accounting firms or outsourced business services environments.

• Demonstrated experience managing accounting operations and client portfolios.

• Prior team leadership and department management experience preferred.
