The Role

We are seeking a Mid / Large Market Account Executive to lead client strategy, drive new business, and oversee a portfolio of mid-to-large employer groups. This role is responsible for owning executive-level relationships, developing long-term benefits strategies, and delivering thoughtful, data-driven recommendations.

You will partner closely with Account Managers and internal teams but ultimately serve as the lead advisor and face of the relationship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of mid to large employer clients (typically 40+ lives)
  • Serve as the lead strategic advisor and primary relationship owner at the executive level
  • Lead renewal strategy and client presentations, including financial analysis, plan design, and contribution modeling
  • Advise clients on funding strategies (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded) and long-term cost containment approaches
  • Negotiate with carrier partners such as CareFirst, UnitedHealthcare, and Anthem
  • Identify opportunities for program enhancements, vendor integrations, and population health initiatives
  • Oversee and mentor Account Managers supporting the book of business
  • Stay informed on market trends, compliance updates, and emerging solutions to better advise clients

Qualifications

  • 4–6+ years of experience in employee benefits, with a focus on mid/large market clients
  • Proven ability to retain/grow existing clients
  • Strong expertise in funding arrangements, underwriting concepts, and renewal strategy
  • Experience leading client presentations and communicating with senior leadership (HR, Finance, C-suite)
  • Established carrier and/or industry relationships preferred
  • Highly consultative approach with strong business acumen
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; comfortable analyzing claims and renewal data
  • Active Life & Health license required

What We’re Looking For

  • A strategic thinker who can connect benefits decisions to broader business goals
  • Someone who is comfortable operating in a high-visibility, client-facing role
  • Collaborative leader who can guide internal teams while maintaining accountability
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to grow a book of business

Why Join Us

  • Opportunity to own and grow a significant book of business
  • High-impact role with direct influence on client strategy and outcomes
  • Collaborative, team-driven environment with strong support resources
  • Competitive compensation structure (base + incentives/commissions)
  • Flexible/hybrid work environment
  • Clear path for continued growth and leadership opportunities
