The Role
We are seeking a Mid / Large Market Account Executive to lead client strategy, drive new business, and oversee a portfolio of mid-to-large employer groups. This role is responsible for owning executive-level relationships, developing long-term benefits strategies, and delivering thoughtful, data-driven recommendations.
You will partner closely with Account Managers and internal teams but ultimately serve as the lead advisor and face of the relationship.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and grow a portfolio of mid to large employer clients (typically 40+ lives)
- Serve as the lead strategic advisor and primary relationship owner at the executive level
- Lead renewal strategy and client presentations, including financial analysis, plan design, and contribution modeling
- Advise clients on funding strategies (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded) and long-term cost containment approaches
- Negotiate with carrier partners such as CareFirst, UnitedHealthcare, and Anthem
- Identify opportunities for program enhancements, vendor integrations, and population health initiatives
- Oversee and mentor Account Managers supporting the book of business
- Stay informed on market trends, compliance updates, and emerging solutions to better advise clients
Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of experience in employee benefits, with a focus on mid/large market clients
- Proven ability to retain/grow existing clients
- Strong expertise in funding arrangements, underwriting concepts, and renewal strategy
- Experience leading client presentations and communicating with senior leadership (HR, Finance, C-suite)
- Established carrier and/or industry relationships preferred
- Highly consultative approach with strong business acumen
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; comfortable analyzing claims and renewal data
- Active Life & Health license required
